Nation’s Largest Truckload Carrier Named “Most Innovative” by IDG’s InfoWorld
Schneider National included in top 100 companies for excellence in creative and cutting-edge IT solutions

GREEN BAY, Wis. – December 5, 2007 – Schneider National, Inc., a premier provider of transportation, logistics and intermodal services, has been honored for its advanced IT solutions by being included on the IDG InfoWorld 100 list for 2007. The annual awards pay tribute to IT projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to further business goals. This is the first time Schneider has been named to the InfoWorld list.

Schneider made the InfoWorld 100 list for its development of a new program designed to reduce the complexity of dray dispatching (dispatching trucks and drivers to short-haul freight to warehouses or railyards). Named the Dispatch Execution Planning & Optimization Tool (DEPOT), the Java-based application provides the trucking company's dispatchers with extensive information regarding loads, drivers and available empty boxes, while recommending the most efficient and effective customer solutions for intermodal freight moves.

Nominations for the top spots within each category were submitted by InfoWorld readers, technology partners and end-user companies in late-summer 2007. Top consideration was given to those projects that stretched beyond the typical, off-the-shelf solution and used multiple technologies in innovative ways to serve well-defined business objectives.

“Whether ushering legacy systems into the agile era or revolutionizing how their companies leverage technology to meaningful ends, this year’s winners are both inspiration and proof that striking a new path in IT can reap deep organizational rewards,” said InfoWorld senior editor Jason Snyder.

“Maintaining high levels of customer service is critical in our industry,” said Bob Grawien, vice president of enterprise architecture at Schneider National. “We’re delighted to be included on this prestigious list, because it demonstrates Schneider understands our customers’ needs and, through the use of cutting-edge technology, can provide the type of service they need to be successful.”

Other winners in an array of categories were FedEx Services, US Foodservice, Purdue University, Capital One, Johnson Controls, America Online, Microsoft, AT&T, BNSF Railways and Abbott Laboratories. Winners were formally announced on November 12 at www.infoworld.com.
