Search is on for Those Who Participated in Every Year of Event’s 25-Year-Run
GREEN BAY, WIS. – August 23, 2007 – Acknowledging that it’s going to take a lot of orange frosting to decorate an anniversary cake befitting its 25-year-run, organizers of the Schneider Family Fitness Event today announced special grand finale touches for this year’s event. A giant anniversary cake, special starting line recognition ceremony, nostalgia booth and grand finale door prizes are all in the works as planners prepare to celebrate the 25th and final event next month. After a successful 25-year run, Schneider National, Inc., announced in July that it will celebrate its final Family Fitness Event on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at its Corporate Business Center in Green Bay. The annual event has promoted family health and fitness while raising funds for area charities since its inception in 1983. According to Race Director Colleen Steier, grand finale touches include a giant anniversary cake decked out to resemble a Schneider National truck, with every participant receiving a piece after they cross the finish line. A starting line recognition ceremony honoring the inaugural (1983) and grand finale planning committees, as well as the winner of the inaugural run, Dan Lytie, is also planned. Lytie is the son of Green Bay running legend Dick Lytie. Participants with the distinction of taking part in all 25 events will also be recognized. Grand finale door prizes will further add to the festivities, with 25 randomly selected participants at this year’s event winning a free pair of running shoes. For those interested in taking a stroll down memory lane, a nostalgia booth featuring photos, event t-shirts and paraphernalia collected over 25 years will be on display in the Event Expo. Got 25? The Grand Finale planning committee is also launching a search for individuals and families who have participated in all 25 of the Schneider events during the last two and a half decades. Participants with this distinction will be recognized during the Starting Line Recognition Ceremony and are asked to contact event organizers at www.schneiderrun.com or call 920.592.3889. Participants with other unique or interesting stories related to the event are also invited to share their stories.
