Nation’s Largest Truckload Provider Hiring 100 New Truck Drivers; Conducting Two Job Fairs in New Orleans
Pay for New and Existing Bulk Tanker Drivers to Increase Oct. 1

GREEN BAY, Wis., and NEW ORLEANS - Sept. 28, 2006 - Schneider National, Inc., the nation’s largest truckload carrier, today announced it will host two job fairs to attract and hire 100 new professional truck drivers in the greater New Orleans area. Most of the new drivers will work in Schneider’s Bulk division. The events will be held in Baton Rouge on Monday, Oct. 2 and in Covington on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

New Schneider National Bulk drivers will enjoy a pay increase the company is putting in place beginning Oct. 1. The company’s growth in the region is fueled by new business and expanding relationships with customers.

The pay increase impacts both experienced and inexperienced network and regional bulk drivers, with regional drivers realizing an average pay increase of $3,500 per year and over-the-road bulk drivers realizing an increase of $1,100 per year. In addition, drivers for the Bulk division will be guaranteed six days off per month and flexible time at home. Owner-operators will also qualify for company-paid pump and compressor retrofits, which are typically valued at $10,000.

Schneider National will hire experienced and inexperienced drivers for regional and over-the-road positions at the job fair and will continue to accept inquiries and applications via its online job site, www.schneiderjobs.com, or by calling 1-800-44-PRIDE (1-800-447-7433). Details include:

Unlike most truckload carriers, Schneider offers a company-provided training program for inexperienced drivers looking to enter the industry and a broad range of employment options for drivers, including weekly and bi-weekly runs. Newly-hired drivers in the New Orleans area may work for several different accounts, which offer employment options that are designed to meet individual lifestyles and varying time-at-home needs.

“As New Orleans continues to recover from Hurricane Katrina, there is an even greater need for transportation capacity in the region,” said Rob Reich, vice president of enterprise recruiting at Schneider National. “Schneider is excited to be a part of the state’s rebuilding efforts by bringing jobs to support new and existing customers with service excellence.”

Schneider National’s comprehensive, company-provided training program is recognized as one of the best in the industry for its commitment to safety and service excellence. Inexperienced drivers are encouraged to apply for the new positions and will earn an average of $38,600-$46,600 in their first year. Experienced drivers will earn an average of $52,600-$61,600. Owner-operators leasing with Schneider National will average $105,000-$115,000 annually.

In 2005, Schneider announced the largest compensation and work-life improvement package in its 70-year history. An example of a new work-life improvement is the company’s Home Run program. The program creates “pods” of three drivers, or teams, who live near each other and share two tractors. A driver, or team, gets one week at home while the other two drivers “run.” Under the program, drivers spend 17 weeks at home per year, meeting driver requests for improved work-life balance.

Schneider National is an equal opportunity employer.
