Schneider National has a long, proud history of supporting the U.S. military.
In 1935, Al Schneider, a long-time member of the Wisconsin National Guard, sold the family car to buy his first truck. As Schneider’s business increased, so did his need for quality drivers and Al began to recruit fellow Guard members. Schneider National continues to approach Guard members, reservists and veterans with career opportunities 75 years later. Schneider National recognizes that individuals with military backgrounds are dedicated, goal-oriented team players who understand the need for top-notch transportation services.

Schneider is active in the Employer Committee for Support of the Guard and Reserve, encouraging other employers to hire members of the Guard and Reserve and supporting their membership and participation in Guard and Reserve units.
In 1991, Schneider National was named America’s most supportive employer of the Guard and Reserve by the Enlisted Association of National Guard of the United States (EANGUS). Today, the award is presented annually to an employer who shows extraordinary support of those in the Guard and Reserve and is named the Al Schneider Memorial Award.
