More Energy Efficient Facilities: Sustainability Begins at Home
Schneider’s corporate office in Green Bay, Wis., and each of its 210 facilities around the world are designed to maximize energy efficiency every day. Schneider’s headquarters are cooled using an eco-friendly ice storage system, which reduces its energy needs during peak consumption hours. This innovative approach to environmental sustainability reduces energy use by 30 percent and helps prolong the need for incremental power plant construction in Northeast Wisconsin.
Environmental conservation initiatives include:
- High-intensity discharge lighting
- Economizer systems for all heating
- Ventilation and air-conditioning equipment
- Electronic ballasts
- Energy-efficient bulbs
Schneider also regularly performs energy audits at all owned properties and major leased facilities.
We are committed to reducing our energy consumption at warehouse and port facilities.
In 2008, Schneider Logistics replaced more than 1,100 lighting fixtures with high-efficiency fluorescent Orion units. Schneider’s lighting upgrade resulted in saving an estimated 1.6 million KwH per year – enough to supply the total electricity needs of 142 U.S. homes for an entire year.
